Are Fruit Machines just like Slot Machines?
Fruit machines, or AWP (Amusement with Prizes) are a British variation of casino slot machines and are usually found in pubs, clubs, arcades and even in some take-away food shops.
They usually have 3 reels, although some do have 6, with fruit symbols printed on them. When the reels are spun and certain combinations of the fruits appear, the machine pays out winnings. The jackpots are strictly limited and there are no "progressive" fruit machines.
Fruit Machines Special Features
In addition to winnings from the regular reel spins, fruit machines offer secondary games. If a certain combination is spun, another screen opens and you can play an additional game to perhaps win more money.
Hold Button
Another special feature is the "hold" button which is never available on an ordinary slot machine. If, for example, the reels spin two lemons and a pear, you can "hold" the first two reels (the lemons) and spin only the third to perhaps make 3 lemons and win.
Nudge Button
Then there is the "nudge" button – another special feature. If you have spun two lemons and another fruit but you can see that the third lemon is only one notch away, you can "nudge" it into place and win a payout. This feature is unique to fruit machines.
Due to these special features, fruit machines require a bit more strategy to play and win than regular slots. The secondary, or extra, game on a fruit machine will often allow for a win of up to 2000 times the jackpot.
Online Fruit Machines
Today's online casinos also offer a selection of fruit machines. In particular, Microgaming Software Company has developed some charming "fruity" games, such as:
-Chavin' It Large
-Cash'n Curry
-Stallionaire
-Pandemonium
All of the distinctive Microgaming games offer realistic, exciting play.
